Description:

Put your best foot forward on this great adventure which combines the very best of Nepal – mountain trekking, river rafting and a jungle wildlife safari. Providing you are reasonably fit, this programme is suitable for all ages and is especially popular with family groups. The thrills (and spills) of river rafting makes for an unforgettable experience. The rivers of Nepal take you deep into the heart of this breath-taking region, exploring some of the most untouched and hidden corners of the mountain landscape. Rafters have the unique chance to experience the natural splendour of the landscape up close - the rivers pass down the exposed alpine meadows into sub-tropical pine forests and deeper into the tropical lowland jungle of Nepal's lowlands. Stimulating and invigorating, this white water experience is perfect for families, and these few days are sure to bring you close to nature in the most exciting and unique way. The Royal Chitwan National Park is a must for any visitor to Nepal, and we spend three days there on a wonderful safari. With its large variety of wildlife - elephants, tigers, leopards, one horned rhino, sloth bears, chital deer, monkeys, crocodiles and over 450 species of birds - it is one of Asia’s finest national parks. It has extensive amenities and a resident naturalist, and is an ideal place for wildlife enthusiasts and family visitors. Spy a tiger in his natural habitat whilst riding on the back of an elephant, or see a Mugger Crocodile from your canoe.
01 KATHMANDU
On arrival in Kathmandu you are met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure.
02 KATHMANDU
We take a morning excursion to visit the Hanuman Dhoka, also known as Durbar Square. Clustered around the square are a number of palaces, courtyards and temples built between the 12th and 18th centuries by the Malla kings of ancient Nepal, and it is the religious and cultural hub of the city. We spend some time marvelling at the temples and palaces of iconic Hindu figures, such as the Lion Gate, Palace of 55 Windows, Bell of Barking Dogs, the Nayatapola, Bhairava and Dattaraya Temples, and the monastery with carved peacock windows. There are several interesting museums situated here, detailing the vibrant and colourful history of Kathmandu. In the afternoon we make an unforgettable excursion to Patan, five km east of Kathmandu. It is one of the three oldest settlements in the Kathmandu Valley, and four stupas said to have been built by the Indian emperor Asoka in the 3rd century can still be seen here today. There are a number of significant temples and shrines exhibiting exquisitely carved artwork, and we visit the Singh Durbar, a grand and imposing palace that was the early residence of the Rana Prime Minister. Patan has a rich heritage of arts and crafts, and we head off to the handicraft centre of the Tibetan refugees.
03 KATHMANDU - POKHARA
We drive 203 kms to Pokhara, Nepal's charming second city, and set off on our trek in the afternoon.
04 - 10 LAMACHAUR - SIKLISH
This easy-going trek takes us from the lush Kathmandu Valley into alpine landscape below the snow-capped peaks of Machapuchare (6993m) and Lamjung. At dusk our camps are set up and we relax and enjoy our food beside the campfire, reliving the sights and sounds of that day. Our descent back toward Pokhara takes us through brilliantly colourful rhododendron forests to the tribal villages of the Gurungs and the Brahmins. At these villages, we stop to share a cup of tea with these friendly people, whose way of life has remained unchanged for centuries.

The Trisuli is Nepal's most popular rafting river, with impressive gorges, exciting rapids and some easier sections, making it a fun yet safe trip for all age groups. All groups will be accompanied by an experienced guide at all times. DAY 13 TRISULI After a rousing breakfast, we set off onto the river for a whole day of travelling down the down the river, watching the changing scenery as we go. Lunch is enjoyed in the sun as we take a break on a riverside beach. Exhausted but happy, we camp close to the river for the second night.
14 TRISULI - CHITWAN NATIONAL PARK
