The mountains to the north of the Pokhara valley have rightly gained a reputation as being one of the most beautiful trekking regions in the world, with stunning panoramic views, remote mountain villages, hidden valleys and soaring peaks.
The route follows the middle-range hills to Gurung and Magar villages in the shadows of the Annapurna giants, where life has remained untouched by modern influences. The contrasts are breath-taking, as we walk through rice paddy fields framed by great Himalayas and into sub-tropical forests teeming with bird life.
Experience the blissful isolation offered in the Himalayas with this relatively short and accessible trek, suitable for all ages and those with relatively little trekking experience.
01 KATHMANDU - POKHARA
We meet in Kathmandu and drive 200kms to Pokhara, taking around eight hours (flights can be arranged if you desire). On arrival in Pokhara, we settle into your hotel beside the beautiful Phewa Lake.
02 POKHARA - KALIKASTHAN
Between five and six hours trekking through the lush valley around Beganas Tal (Beganas Lake) and away from Pokhara brings us to Kalikasthan (1160m), a beautiful settlement in a meadow on a hilltop. We camp here overnight, relaxing in the natural surroundings.
03 KALIKASTHAN - LAMACHAUR
Around five hours walking through thick shady rhododendron forest hooks us up with the Modi Khola river, and we follow its west bank through the peaceful Conservation Project Area that lies south of Annapurna’s II and IV. We dip into the river valley in the afternoon to set up camp at Lamchaur (910m), surrounded on all sides by towering peaks.
04 LAMACHAUR - SIKLISH
Walking close to our trek companion, the Modi Khola, we reach the village of Siklish (1980m) after around five hours. Nepal's largest Gurung village, this is an interesting place to explore, witnessing local culture that has remained unchanged for centuries in this remote land. The change in scenery is a delight - the lush bounty of the valley below has been replaced by a more exposed, dramatic backdrop of the giant mountain figures watching over us from their great height. Overnight is spent at our camp set up at Siklish.
05 SIKLISH - CHIPLI
we turn westward onto a ridge densely populated with trees, and trek steadily for six hours, enjoying the majestic panorama of the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges. On arrival at Chipli (1760m) our camp is waiting for us and we relax over dinner.
06 CHIPLI - CHALE GAON
Five hours walking sees our descent into the sub-tropical forest, leaving behind the more stark mountainous terrain and passing the Gurung village of Ghachok on the way. We reach Chale Gaon (1620m) after five hours of easy walking, and settle into our camp to enjoy our last night in the mountains.
07 CHALE GAON POKHARA
we trek the short distance to the highway between Pokhara and Baglung, where our transport awaits to take us to Pokhara. On arrival in Pokhara, we check into your hotel and the rest of the day is free to rest, relax on the lake or explore this vibrant, bustling town.
08 POKHARA - KATHMANDU
we transfer by road back to Kathmandu, taking approximately eight hours, or you can fly directly in around 35 minutes. On arrival in Kathmandu, we transfer to the starting point of your onward journey, or to your onward hotel. Tour ends.
