On arrival in Kolkata you are met and transferred to the railway station for boarding the overnight train to NJP. It is also possible to fly direct to Bagdogra if you prefer.
02 Makabari Tea Estate
We arrive at NJP Railway Station in the morning, and transfer by road to Makabari Tea Estate. You settle into your beautiful chalet amidst these wonderfully tranquil surroundings, and in the evening we venture out to a popular wildlife spot to view the animals.
03 Makabari Tea Estate
We rise early to go on a safari for viewing the Gooral (Himalayan Mountain Goat). After breakfast, we visit the nearby Permaculture tea farm, where we witness tea being lucked, the botanical spraying process and tea manufacturing. After, we journey to a nearby village to observe the bio-gas energy process in operation.
04 Darjeeling
Today we move on to Darjeeling. On arrival, you settle into your hotel and relax before dinner.
05 Darjeeling
Its another early morning as we make a visit to Tiger Hill to watch the sunrise. The sight of the misty golden light shimmering across the tea estates is spectacular. Breakfast is then followed by an excursion to the fascinating Ghoom Monastery, the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute and the Darjeeling Zoo. After lunch you are at leisure to enjoy shopping or simply taking in the atmosphere from the comfort of a cafe, over a delicious cup of Darjeeling Tea.
06 Kalimpong
We transfer to Holumba Orchid Haven in Kalimpong, a world of natural beauty and a dreamland for botanists. We stay overnight in Kalimpong.
07 Kalimpong
The day is spent in Kalimpong, with a thrilling white-water rafting experience arranged for those who wish. Prepare yourself for a unique rafting experience on frothing white rapids of the River Teesta, at a spot where the soft green water of the lovely River Rangeet swells into the heavy, sedimented flow of the Teesta. Sightseeing around Kalimpong or a day at your own leisure is an enjoyable alternative. We stay overnight in Kalimpong.
08 Kolkata
We transfer back to NJP, catching our overnight train back to Kolkata. Once again, flights can be arranged as an alternative to rail travel.
09 Kolkata
We arrive in Kolkata, where you transfer to your hotel or starting point for your onward journey. Tour ends.
